How Podiatry & Orthotics Can Help

Comprehensive Assessment

We conduct a thorough assessment of your feet, including biomechanical analysis, gait assessment, and examination of your footwear. This helps us understand the underlying causes of your foot pain.

Custom Orthotic Therapy

Custom orthotics (insoles) are designed specifically for your feet based on detailed measurements. They can help redistribute pressure, improve alignment, and provide support where needed.

Treatment Plans

Treatment may include a combination of orthotic therapy, footwear advice, exercises, stretching programs, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to your individual needs.

Footwear Assessment

Appropriate footwear is crucial for foot health. We assess your current footwear and provide recommendations based on your foot type, activities, and any existing conditions.

Important: Custom orthotics are not suitable for everyone. Your podiatrist will assess whether orthotics are an appropriate treatment option for your specific situation. Some foot conditions respond better to other treatment approaches.

What to Expect at Your Orthotics Assessment

1

History & Discussion

We'll discuss your foot pain, when it occurs, what makes it better or worse, and how it affects your daily activities. We'll also review your medical history, activity level, and footwear.

2

Physical Examination

We'll examine your feet, assess joint range of motion, muscle strength, and palpate for areas of tenderness. We'll also assess your standing foot posture and alignment.

3

Gait Assessment

We'll observe how you walk to identify any biomechanical abnormalities that may be contributing to your foot pain.

4

Footwear Review

We'll assess your current footwear to determine if it's appropriate for your foot type and activities. Improper footwear can contribute significantly to foot pain.

5

Treatment Discussion

Based on our assessment, we'll discuss treatment options with you. If orthotics are recommended, we'll explain how they work and take appropriate measurements. We'll also discuss other treatments that may help.

Who Can Benefit from Orthotic Therapy?

Those experiencing foot or lower limb pain related to sports or physical activity, or looking to optimize their biomechanics for performance.

People with Flat Feet

Individuals with flat feet or fallen arches who experience pain or functional limitations related to their foot posture.
